General Waste Collection Guidelines

  1. Residents may choose to participate in either the volume based sticker program or flat monthly rate cart service.
    1. To arrange for cart service, please call Veolia Environmental Services Customer Service at (630) 587-8282.
  1. Pre-paid refuse bags and tags are available at the following retailers in the City:
    1. Ace Hardware
    2. Blue Goose
    3. Butera Foods
    4. City Hall
    5. Dominick's
    6. Jewel
    7. Meijer

All containers or bags cannot exceed 50 pounds each.
 

  1. Refuse must be out before 6:00 AM for collection.
     
  2. Please be sure to secure your refuse to prevent wind blown litter.
     

Solid Waste Collection Guidelines

  1. Refuse Sticker Program
    1. The following items are considered one disposal unit, and require either a pre-paid disposal sticker or pre-paid full size bag:
      1. Waste containers or generic plastic bags no larger than 32 gallons in capacity, limited to 50 pounds of waste.
      2. Bundles of debris such as carpeting and wood should be no larger than 4 feet in length and not weigh over 50 pounds.
      3. Large household items such as any item of furniture or appliances.
         
  2. Special Pick-ups and Exceptions
    1. Large amounts of demolition and construction debris can be collected by a special pickup.
      1. Please contact Veolia ES to arrange for pick-up.
    2. Toxic and hazardous wastes such as car batteries, acids, caustics, flammable or explosive materials and potentially harmful wastes cannot be collected.

      1. Must be flattened and cut in pieces no larger than 3’ X 3’ maximum
      2. Large amounts should be bundled with string.

  4. Items We Cannot Recycle:
    1. Containers for motor oil, pesticides or chemicals
    2. Plastic bags, packing peanuts, or plastic wrap
    3. Polystyrene (code #6) such as egg cartons and meat trays

Yardwaste Collection Guidelines

  1. Yard Waste is collected from April 1 thru November 30th. Leaves will continue to be picked up from December 1st-31st in yard waste bags.
     
  2. Yard waste cannot be mixed with normal waste for collection.
    1. Plastic bags or cans cannot be used.
     
  3. The following items are considered one disposal unit and require either a pre-paid Kraft paper bag or a pre-paid disposal sticker.
    1. Kraft paper bag (pre-paid or generic) limited to 50 pounds of yard waste.
    2. Bundles of brush or branches no longer than 4 feet in length or weighing over 50 pounds.
      1. Branches cannot exceed 3 inches in diameter
    3. Christmas Trees will be picked up for a 2 week period in January.

  2. Depending on the holiday, and the day of the week on which it falls, your collection may be delayed one day.
